Mahindra has revealed the XUV700 on the eve of India's 75th Independence Day. The three-row SUV will succeed the current-generation XUV500 and it will be the first model to feature the new brand logo. The new SUV will go against the likes of Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus. The Mahindra XUV700 will come in two configurations to choose from. You can either have the Mahindra XUV700 in a 5 seater option or in a 7 seater configuration. The XUV700 will come with 6-way electrically adjustable seats at the front with a memory function.
In terms of connectivity, the Mahindra XUV700 will come with wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay support. All of the car's features can be operated through the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and the 10.25-inch digital infotainment system. The XUV700 will come with the biggest sunroof in its segment. The company has named it ‘Skyroof’. The XUV700 will get auto-booster headlamps which is a segment-first feature. Once the driver is driving above the speed of 80 kmph in the dark, the headlamps will increase the throw of the headlights for better illumination of the road ahead.
The XUV700 will be available in diesel and petrol engines in manual and automatic transmissions, with the option of All-Wheel-Drive. The 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol Mahindra mStallion unit is tuned to deliver 200hp and 380Nm. Likewise, the diesel is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder mHawk turbocharged unit that will come in two states of tune. The lower state version which will come in lower variants will produce 155hp and 360Nm, while the engine in higher variants will deliver 185hp and 420Nm (450Nm with the automatic gearbox).
The diesel engine also comes with four drive modes – Zip, Zap, Zoom and Custom. Both engines can be had with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options, though the lower-spec diesel will only be available with a manual. The Zip mode is the most relaxed one, the Zoom mode is the quickest one and the Zap mode will sit in the middle. The XUV700 comes with AdrenoX intelligent system, which will allow the user to integrate the SUV with Amazon Alexa. Users will be able to access basic functions through voice commands. It will also get segment-first flush door handles, 3D sound by Sony, multiple drive modes, ventilated seats and wireless charger, etc.
